UNBC Announces a variety of layoffs, 8 CUPE positions affected

UNBC held a town hall on June 22nd that announced a variety of layoffs. CUPE3799 has been working with our 8 members who have been permanently laid off and ensuring their rights under the collective agreement are followed. These layoffs were due to the structural under-funding of UNBC and how financial goals can not be met. There will be a round of bumping that may cause another round of bumping until everything settles.

Always unfortunate that anyone is being laid off while the University is announcing adding two more senior administrative positions and the related structure that has to support them.
