CUPE to represent Westjet !

For years Air Canada flight attendants have been represented by CUPE and now Westjet is coming into the fold. The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) has been issued an interim certification by the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) to represent 3,000 mainline flight attendants at WestJet. New email system installed for CUPE 3799

We have recently transitioned over to better email system that brings a slew of new features and safeguards for the local's email. It brings us into compliance with PIPA regulations and at the same time makes it easier as we transition executive members in the future. It will also mean a new way to remotely attend general membership meetings that will require enhanced checking to verify who you are, before you are in. Rally for Respect !

Unite Here, who represent the food services workers at UNBC and others in Prince George will be having a rally on April 19th, 4:30 pm at the Ramada Hotel. They are seeking a new collective agreement and a living wage. Many of these workers have been at the University since it started, and still only get minimum wage. Come out and give them some support.

Citing ‘dishonest communications,’ CUPE 3903 files three unfair labour practices complaints against York University

The Union representing striking academic workers at York University has filed an unfair labour practices complaint with the Ontario Labour Relations Board against their employer. The complaint, filed late yesterday afternoon by CUPE 3903, alleges that York University violated three sections (Sections 17, 70 and 73) of Ontario’s Labour Relations Act, by misrepresenting their own and the Union’s bargaining positions in both their communications to CUPE 3903 members and to the public. CUPE leaders from across Canada support striking members at Carleton University

Hundreds of striking CUPE 2424 members got a boost on Wednesday, as members of CUPE’s National Executive Board (NEB) joined them for a solidarity picket outside Carleton University. Over 800 administrative, technical, and library workers at the university have been striking since March 4 to defend their pensions.
